Tips & Ideas
Once your child has organized the Vocabulary Word, Synonym, Definition & Sentences cards into the correct Storage Pockets, have him/her choose the words s/he wants to learn.
Are there words s/he already understands & can use in a sentence with accuracy? Make a poster of them: WOW Words I Know ! Be sure to include them with the unknown words as part of the learning games & activities.
Celebrate with a Vocabulary Victory party by writing the words on a large cookie or sheet cake. Add them to the WOW Words I Know poster or start a new poster as it fills up.
Continue to use those learned words every day during conversations, especially at the dinner table. Encourage her/him to teach younger siblings & friends.
S/he will be hearing & using them forever in school. Each year will bring new ones to his/her vocabulary.Â
